Reports - ABAP

Reports are nothing but, based on given input we fetch the data from database  and display it in a predefined  format, all standrad reports are executable programs  and the type of the executable program is 1  and we can execute  an executable program without a transaction code also.

THERE ARE THREE TYPES OF REPORTS IN ABAP .

1. Classical report

2. Interactive report

3. ALV report.

We can create reports through  se38 and se80 transaction codes .

se38 - ABAP Editor

se80 - Object Nevigation

I want to show you some  tips and tricks for SAP beginners. Let's get started with tip number .Let's say you work with a lot of different systems and instances. Well there is a way to change the background color by going into options and then picking the respective color scheme. You apply that. We have to log out and then log back in in order to see the changes. Right now it's blue.

It is a blue background and you will see once I log back in, it's going to be green. Just like that. So, you might have heard the sounds the first time you log into an SAP system. I want to show you how to turn them off. Again, you go to options. In the background you can hear this sound that SAP makes. Well this is the way how you can turn it off.

And now the sound in the background is turned off. Tip number three is how to reveal transaction codes. So right now in the menu you can see only the descriptions, but you cannot see what actual transaction is behind those Descriptions. There's a setting in Extras, Settings, and then we tick this check mark and then all of sudden you can see the transaction code.

Also in the SAP menu you can see them. Tip number three is about working with favorites. So first I want to show you how you can insert a folder. In this case I'm going to insert a folder for configuration. We put this in there. And let's say I want to add some transactions to it. So there's one way to insert a transaction like this. Just type in, for example, SPRO. And you see it's added to the folder, into the favorites. Or you can go to the SAP menu at the bottom and then you can just go highlight the transaction you want, click on the button above, and then they will appear in the favorites at the top.

And then you can drag and drop them into the folder and then there in the folder. This is a way ofhow you can organize your transactions and the business processes that you have to do. There is also a way to change the description as you can see here. So instead of having this lengthy description you can tailor it to what you want it to say. So that was about favorites. There's one more thing. There'some more thing I wanted to show you. You can also add all different types of favorites. One of the types is a website. So let's say you wanted to link to an internet site.

You can do this here. For example, I'm going to do Google and this is how you do that. The fifth trick is when you work with different systems and you want to know which system you're in and which transaction you're in. There is a way to bring that up. Very often you will work for a company that is located, let's say in Germany, and they use a different date format. I want to show you with this tip how to change the date format and this is how you do it. Tip number seven jumping to another transaction. So let's say I am in SAP and I want to go to the transport organizer SE10. I can do that by /n SE10 typing that into that transaction box.

If I wanted to switch back to the SPRO, I would have to do the same thing. If I just type SPRO, it doesn't work. So instead I have to type /n SPRO and then I'm back in the IMG. That's how you hop between different transactions. This is how you can open your window /n and Enter opens a new window. Or you can use one of the items there at the top to do that.

And there are more commands that can use and here's the help for that command field. In the next tip, I will show you how you can switch between the User SAP menu and the SAP menu. So there are two different menu types. It's going to be real quick. So up there, there are two buttons and if you use them you can toggle between user menus.

Tip number ten how to access your Inbox. So this is your inbox that you have and you will get let's say notifications or workflow items in that inbox. Sometimes the transactions stalls like in this case. And what you can do here is you can stop a transaction. That's the last tip, tip number eleven.
